Pleumeur-Bodou is a city full of surprises, located in the Cotes d'Armor department. With its 17 kilometre-long coastline, the city boasts a host of small islands offering their typical vegetation and a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
“Île Grande” is the largest island in the area, with a coastal path accessible to all hikers and where you can find marshes, small harbours, beaches and beautiful panoramic views. The city has an amazing and unique heritage thanks to these islands. Indeed, it is primarily known for its megalithic heritage.
Visit the unique “Île Grande” prehistoric barrow. The barrow is made of granite and, it is located at a height of 35 metres and measures 8.6 meters long. It includes a vestibule and a burial chamber formed by two parallel walls. This unique site has been listed as a Historical Monument since 23 January 1956. The Menhir of Saint Uzec is also one of a kind: a huge stone, 7 metres long with sculptures and a cross representing the passion of Christ. In a more traditional sense, the city’s heritage is represented by Saint Samson Chapel with its sundial and Kerduel Castle and its peculiar architecture combining different time periods.
The “Radôme” was designed for the first satellite telecommunications and dates from the early 1960s. Telecom City (which includes the Radôme) is listed as a Historical Monument and its modern architecture houses Europe's largest centre dedicated to telecommunications.
